In the parable of the sower (Mt. 13:1-23), Jesus speaks of seeds falling on different types of soil, representing hearts ready—or not—for the Word of God. But what if we flipped the imagery? Imagine God as the gardener, not only sowing seeds of His truth but also plucking out seeds of sin before they can take root in our lives.
Sin seeks to scatter its seeds across the soil of our hearts. But when we surrender to the Spirit, He guards us, hardening our hearts against temptation’s subtle whispers. Like the birds that snatch seeds from the hardened path, God intervenes to pluck away sin’s lies before they take root.
Pray today for God to do this miraculous work in your life: harden your heart against sin, soften it for His truth, and make you a field ready for His fruit to grow. The Gardener knows how to tend His garden. Let Him pull the weeds and protect the soil. How are you working along with God to tend to the soil of your heart today?
