“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
Most of this is from a friend named Bob Lehman.
Maybe you’ve heard the phrase or even shared the phrase – “Go big or go home!” It has a certain excitement and boldness to it. Many claim to know the origin of the phrase. Many suggest its usage started with the military. Pilots would use the phrase referring to the idea that the longer you stay on target, the higher the probability of a direct hit. But, the longer you stay on target, the more exposed your plane is to ground fire. Therefore, you need the intestinal fortitude to take a greater risk for the sake of a better result. Go big or go home!
People have used the phrase to describe: the need to be bold, questionable behavior, and a need for being stronger. The late actor Paul Walker used the expression to describe an attitude to bring to racing. Kat Von Drachenberg, author of High Voltage Tattoo, also used the saying to justify destructive behavior. Those probably aren’t good descriptions of you. As someone trying to emulate Jesus Christ, we can make a case for using the idiom as well. Consider these possibilities:
• Christians should be decisive in their Christian life and not have one foot in the world and one foot following Jesus.
• Christians should practice generosity and graciousness, even on difficult days.
• Christians should surrender themselves completely to the Gospel and let Him do Kingdom stuff through them.
• Christians should be fully committed to giving God all the glory in life.
There is a wonderful song that speaks to this entitled I SURRENDER ALL:
All to Jesus I surrender
All to Him I freely give
I will ever love and trust Him
In His presence daily live
All to Jesus I surrender
Humbly at His feet I bow
Worldly pleasures all forsaken
Take me Jesus, take me now
I surrender all
I surrender all
All to Thee my blessed Savior
I surrender all
