Relentless Love

Recently, my family watched Home Alone, and as always, I was struck by the determination of Kevin’s mom, Kate. In the first movie, she desperately scrambled to get back to Kevin after realizing she had left him behind. From begging to trade her jewelry for a flight to hitching a ride in a van with a polka band, she refused to rest until she was reunited with her son. In Home Alone 2, her relentless love was just as evident. Even after Kevin mistakenly ended up in New York, she searched the city tirelessly, combing through crowds and landmarks until she found him.
Kate’s persistence reminded me of our Heavenly Father’s relentless love. God didn’t just stop at nothing to bring us back to Him, He gave up His one and only Son to reconcile us to Himself.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
This truth is staggering. The Creator of the universe didn’t leave us in our brokenness but made the ultimate sacrifice to bring us back into a relationship with Him. His love is active, costly, and deeply personal.
As you reflect on this, think about the depth of God’s love for you. Like Kate’s unwavering pursuit of Kevin, God’s relentless love is for you, only infinitely more perfect. Will you embrace it today and allow God’s relentless love for you to fill your heart with joy?
