God’s Finishing School

“Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end.”
Psalm 119:33.

I was just running errands. And while doing so, God engaged with me.

“Wow,” I noted to myself on the freeway. “That truck should have moved over a lane to allow that car easier entry onto the freeway …”

And God finished my sentence with, “You mean just like you forgot to do three miles back?”

“Wow,” I noted to myself in the grocery store. “That shopper parked her cart on one side of the aisle and reached for something on the other side, blocking the aisle for me …”

And God finished my sentence with, “Yeah, just like you did in the soup aisle, right?”

“Wow,” I noted to myself during a conversation. “That woman keeps interrupting everybody …”

And God finished my sentence with, “You did that in your office meeting yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that ..,.”

God chastises me gently, with humor, pointing out my hypocrisy. I am so quick to condemn others for precisely what I ignore myself doing.
