True Worship

John 4:24, “24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

I grew up going to church, but I can’t say that I can recall truly worshiping in a church until I was out of my teens. For me, going to church on a Sunday was not worship in and of itself. It was a routine. A good routine to have, to be sure, but an incomplete one. Simply going through the routine of sitting in church or singing songs with religious content does not pass for worship in God’s eyes. What counts is the posture of our soul. Worship is a lifestyle of opening our hearts to God in trust. Worship is surrendering our hearts to God with joyful trust, knowing that He is worth all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It is recognizing God’s incomparable worth and praising Him from a life of obedient love.

As we give ourselves to God in worship, God will transform us from the inside out. And what a wonderful change it is! He will take our hardened, darkened, calloused hearts and renew them with true life again.

May God’s magnificence motivate a lifestyle of worshiping Him. Worship is not about the building, it’s not about the location; it’s about a life of honest devotion to God from our hearts.

Psalm 51:12, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.”
