“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” Psalm 23:4
For years, I thought of this as a terrifying picture — the valley of the shadow of death.
What could be more final, more frightening than the shadow of death?
Throughout the Psalms, God uses wonderful imagery to provide an underlying truth and a deeper understanding. He longs so to reach out to us.
After years I noticed that it was not the valley of the darkness of death, It’s the valley of the shadow of death.
Even here, God shows us He is with us.
Darkness is the absence of light, but a shadow is evidence of light. You can’t make a shadow without light.
