At the Lake

In the movies and even in my favorite TV show ever, The Andy Griffith Show, going to the lake was a big deal. Cold Fried Chicken was usually a staple. Bringing fishing poles and worms was a necessary item or bringing swimming trunks. Having a blanket to sit on made a home away from home.

Each of these requires some forethought and action. In order to have fried chicken someone has to get up early in the morning or stay up late the night before.  That work is not seen on the show, but it had to take place. Then there are the fishing poles. No big deal on the poles but they always seemed to have worms. I don’t think that the local gas station sold worms, which means someone had to get a shovel and dig for them. Remembering the blanket, not such a big deal but someone needed to remember to get it off the shelf and pack it in the car.

Planning takes time and planning helps bring success. I remember a quote from long ago, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”  Planning is a part of strategizing and taking steps toward success.

Many people have taken steps to be successful in their Christian walk.  They have planned ahead and made steps to be confident in what they believe, to grow in their knowledge, and be a part of relationships that encourage and help walk a life of faithfulness to God.

Many local churches have things available to help with these:
Sunday school classes
Small groups
One on one follow up groups
Sunday Services
Christian books
Bible reading groups
Bible memory
