Food in the Wilderness

“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith
Ravine, east of the Jordan.  You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to
supply you with food there.” So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith
Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the
morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:2-6

You know, when we go through tough times, we call it going through “the wilderness”.
Wilderness periods are a difficult time when things are challenging in life.

But as I think about God’s Word, I am reminded, didn’t God speak to Moses in “the wilderness”?
And Jesus? And Elijah? And John the Baptist? and Peter? and Paul? Where God speaks is Holy
ground.

So then maybe it should be considered that our tough wilderness times are Holy times. Times set
aside where God is near in a special way, doing a unique work, speaking to us. How can you see
“the wilderness” as a gift?
