The Starting Place

Lincoln Church – A Place for Spiritual Growth

Are you new to church, the Christian faith, have questions about God, or simply have a desire to understand what it looks like to follow Jesus? Starting Place is the the place for you! Starting Place connects you with a mentor who will help you understand what it looks like to follow Jesus in your everyday life. You and your mentor will meet together weekly for 13 weeks to explore key topics about the Christian faith, reflect on Scripture together, and memorize God’s Word. We are ready and looking forward to helping you get started on your Christian journey.

When you signup for the Starting Place Ministry you will get a Bible, Growing in Christ Booklet, and a “My Identity in Christ” bookmark as our free git to you.

Our Journey

The Story of Lincoln Church

In the early 1950’s two groups came together to begin a Sunday School emphasis in the Lincoln Center shopping center.  First Presbyterian Church in Stockton and the local presbytery was formally organized Lincoln Church in 1953 and Agape Hall (a social hall, kitchen and 4 classrooms) was built, and in 1958 the sanctuary (seating capacity 300, office, choir room, and prayer room) was dedicated. Lincoln continued to grow in numbers, and in 1992 the Office building (offices, fireside room, preschool and nursery) was completed .  

From March 2, 2008 to March 10, 2013 Lincoln entered a strategic time period of an test the waters for and additional site at Manlio Silva Elementary School in a new development  in northwest Stockton called Trinity Park, approximately 4 miles away. The Lincoln Park West project was exciting and vibrant but leadership decided to bring both sites back under one roof for continuity. 

In 2013 Lincoln joined a new denomination ECO – A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians.

In 2020, the Activity Center (warming kitchen, full gymnasium, 3 classrooms, lobby and storage areas) was dedicated after a multi-year development period.
