Love that Casts out Fear

Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

We have been told love drives out fear. This whole Advent season is about how “God so loved the world.” God strives with all that He is to make Himself known to us precisely because He loves us so deeply. All He asks in return is our love. (And everything else, but that’s for another time.)

When we love God — relentlessly seeking to know and follow Him — fear loses its power over us. As we make Him a bigger and bigger part of our lives, we have less room to hold onto and carry fear.

As we trust in God as our light and our strength, whatever challenges we face today pale in comparison to the knowledge that God’s presence envelopes us, and His strength upholds us.

Light has, indeed, come into the world — and into every willing heart.
