At Just the Right Time

Even with all the speculation as to exactly when Jesus was born into human history, it seems fitting that the celebration of His birth falls alongside Hanukkah and the Jewish season of light. After all, He was born a Jew into a traditional Jewish family and honored the law, though not always the way it was practiced. “The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

Scripture tells us, “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” (Galatians 4:4–5). At just the right time, Jesus entered the world.

The Holy Spirit weaves the tapestry of Jesus’s Jewish birth and the coming of age of the Church in a way that brings fullness and completion between the Old and the New Testaments. Christmas truly is the season of light and Jesus is at the center.

Thank You, Lord, for making it so.
