Perfectly Forgiven

“God… having forgiven us all our trespasses.”
Colossians 2.13c

Hmmm. That sounds vaguely familiar.

Like I heard it somewhere on a mountain.
Although here it is even better than I remember
because here it includes the gigantic word all.

All our trespasses have been forgiven.

Not most. Not some. Not just the manageable ones.
All of them.

The verb tense of “having forgiven,”
according to my very shaky grasp of English grammar,
is something called the perfect participle.

And that sounds perfectly perfect to me.
Because it means it has already been done.
Fully. Finally. Finished.

What a way to live.
Not dragging around the weight of shame,
but walking freely in grace.

Forgiven. Fully. Forever. Halleluia!
